Journées du patrimoine : Visite du Sémaphore du talut

Several time slots are available for visits: Saturday, September 19: 10:00-11:00, 11:00-12:00, 14:00-15:00, 15:00-16:00, 16:00-17:00. Sunday, September 20: 10:00-11:00, 11:00-12:00, 14:00-15:00, 15:00-16:00, 16:00-17:00. Registration is required at the tourist office upon presentation of an identity document, and must be completed before September 14. In 1859, the Minister of the Navy decided to build 135 semaphore stations along the French coast based on the same plan. In 1860, the Navy approved the construction of 4 semaphore stations around the Belle-Île coast. Erected the following year, these semaphore stations are Talut, Er-Hastellic, Arzic, and Taillefer. Today, Talut is the only active semaphore station on Belle-Île. Taillefer and Arzic are privately owned. The ruins of Er-Hastellic can be seen near the Apothecary. Unlike these three semaphore stations, Talut's silhouette was modernized in 1987. Committed to effectively complementing the surveillance of the maritime approaches to our territory, the French Navy decided in 2022 that the Talut semaphore station would be on watch 24/7, 365 days a year. - Following directives from the Maritime Prefecture of Brest and the Naval Staff, all visitors (of European nationality or from a NATO member country) will be subject to a security check conducted by the local gendarmerie (in the event of a refusal of the application by the gendarmerie, the tourist office will notify the applicant). - Registration closes on the evening of September 14, 2026. Completed application forms and identification documents can be collected on the 16th. A mobile phone is recommended. - The use of connected or photographic devices is strictly prohibited throughout the site. - Bags larger than 15L are prohibited (due to limited space and security constraints). - No visitor will be admitted without prior registration with the tourist office. - Visits may be canceled without prior notice. - No access to restrooms. - Due to architectural constraints (stairs, etc.), access is not permitted for people with reduced mobility.
