The Escales Photos festival entrusted photographer Aurélia Faudot with a delicate mission: to explore, through images, the intimate connection between the inhabitants of Mor Braz and their food. The Escales Photos festival entrusted photographer Aurélia Faudot with a delicate mission: to explore, through images, the intimate connection between the inhabitants of Mor Braz and their food. For several weeks, she traveled throughout the Arzon and Belle-Île-en-Mer regions, meeting elders, young people, long-established families, and newcomers. To each, she posed a simple question: "Tell me about a memory shared around the table." There is a gentle strangeness, a deliberate melancholy, in her images. The scenes seem drawn from dreamlike memories: blurred, embellished, sometimes unreal. Memory doesn't reproduce faithfully. It transforms, it slips, it filters. It makes everything softer, or harsher. This blurring of memory, this intentional imprecision, gives the project its tone. Like a taste of yesterday that seeps into today. With this commission, Escales Photos affirms its commitment to grounding contemporary photographic creation in the reality of the Breton landscape, inviting artists to encounter its inhabitants, its landscapes, and its customs. “Le sel des jours” thus becomes much more than a series of images: a celebration of local identity, an invitation to reflect on our ways of living and eating, an ode to the simple and essential beauty of everyday life.
