Kuri Nuki is a traditional Japanese form of hand modeling. The word means "to cut, to hollow out" and it involves shaping the outside of a solid block of clay, then hollowing it out into a container to create "an inner space." It is a more sculptural approach to making, and the inside of the piece is just as important as the outside. With this method, you can create a tea bowl or a teapot. The bowls will dry in the workshop. They will be put in an electric kiln for the first firing, then glazed and annealed, again in an electric kiln, for use as food containers. Course open to groups of 2 or more. Registration required at 06 83 80 93 57 (€25 reservation deposit required). Please plan to collect the works at the end of the stay. Postal delivery is possible (€18 fee).
