A humanitarian crisis is unfolding on the borders of the European Union, resulting in the disappearance at sea of more than 30,000 people since 2014, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The conference will aim to share and then discuss the humanitarian, political, and legal issues raised by this neglected crisis. It will describe the rescue operations carried out by SOS Méditerranée and the crucial technical expertise acquired by the teams aboard the Ocean Viking.
